  The lady turned up and somewhat reluctantly unlocked the single fuel pump. No mention of the charge so we didn't mention it, as advised by the lady at the pub.

  So it might be best pushing forward and trying to get to the next major gas station. I imagine we'll be the talk of the town for a while.

  Very old style gas station with single pump that was locked when we got there and it was 4 in the afternoon on Saturday. We went round the back of the convenience store to see if anyone was around - it was a ghost town. I was sure the rapture had happened. A very kind lady at the pub said she could call someone out but they might charge us. We reckoned one of the few men that were in that pub might have a jerry can of fuel... But they just talked amongst themselves.

  The fuel light had been on for a while and we knew we wouldn't get very far before breaking down so we decided to accept that.

  AVOID. Not open. Ghost town. No one will help you out there. Make sure you have enough left to get to the next one or you’ll have to wait until next day and whatever time they like to open to get some pricey gas.
